Lee Spieker, Director

Lee Speiker Mr. Spieker is the Founder and President of TherapyZone, Inc. His work in children's fitness goes back 15 years to the production of the video "Your Baby" a video detailing the physical development of infants from 2 months to 2 years. This video, which won numerous national awards since then is available through the foundation. He was instrumental in the creation of the Active Start program from NASPE and served on the review panel for the document. "We at TherapyZone and our Affiliate partners throughout the United States have committed ourselves to introducing fitness to our nations children in a fun, non-competitive manner. We will provide children with the opportunity to develop total fitness and self-esteem through positive roles models, quality fitness products, education, promotions and guided activity."


Rae Pica

Rae Pica Rae Pica has been a children's movement specialist for 23 years and is the author of 14 books, including the text Experiences in Movement, the Moving & Learning Series, and Wiggle, Giggle, and Shake: 200 Ways to Move & Learn. Rae is nationally known for her workshops and keynotes and has shared her expertise with such groups as the Sesame Street Research Department, the Head Start Bureau, Centers for Disease Control, and Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues. Recently, Rae served on a task force for the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, helping to create Active Start: A Statement of Physical Activity Guidelines for Children Birth to Five Years. In June, McGraw-Hill Contemporary Books will publish her first trade book, Your Active Child, for parents.


Rhonda Clements, Ed.D.

Rhonda Clements, Ed.D. Professor in the School of Education and Allied Human Services, Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York. Dr. Clements received her Doctorate of Education from Teachers College, Columbia University from the Department of Movement Sciences and Education. She is the author or editor of eight books in the areas of movement, play, and games for children. She is also the President of the American Association for the Child's Right To Play- a United Nations recognized association composed of experts in childhood development, theories, and leisure activities in 49 countries, whose primary purpose is to protect, preserve, and promote play and physical activities throughout the world. She has written more than 20 research articles concerning the need for physical activity for preschool and elementary school age children, and has presented at more than 30 international or national conferences, and over 60 state or local conferences. Dr. Clements has also been interviewed by more than 200 journalists in the last three years on issues reflecting physical activity and movement, and was one of eight national experts to write NASPE's Active Start: A Statement of Guidelines for Children From Birth to Five Years (2002). Dr. Clements's research interests focuses on early childhood and elementary physical education, and sociocultural and historical issues in play, games, and sport.
