Denver, CO … Colorado-based fitness and therapeutic equipment supplier, TherapyZone, has announced the formation of the TherapyZone Foundation for Children’s Fitness. “The Foundation has been formed to provide children throughout America the opportunity to develop total fitness and self-esteem by providing access to positive role models, quality fitness products, education and guided activity,” says Lee Spieker, TherapyZone Founder and President. “ The foundation’s mission is based on the newly released Active Start guidelines published by the National Association for Sport & Physical Education (NASPE) (stating that Preschoolers should accumulate at least 1 hour of structured daily activity) and to promote it’s implementation in preschools and daycare centers throughout the nation,” Spieker said. “The Foundation’s initial focus will be 3-5 year old children attending non-profit preschool and daycare programs like Head Start, “ he added, “formative years when children develop the foundational beginnings of self esteem and attitudes about health and fitness, a time when a positive introduction to fun, non-competitive fitness routines is critical to forming lifetime habits for a long and healthy life,” he finished.

To get the ball rolling, TherapyZone has pledged to donate $2.00 of every order the TherapyZone company receives to Foundation coffers. Monies donated will be used to fund the provision of fitness supplies and educational products to qualifying daycare centers and preschools. To achieve a nationwide benefit, the Foundation plans to work in concert with TherapyZone’s national network of Physical Therapists, Chiropractors and Personal Fitness Trainers who can sponsor grant amounts up to $300.00 to help underwrite the acquisition costs of fitness and educational products to qualified local preschool and daycare centers interested in developing a fitness program. Materials will be supplied by TherapyZone. By involving our professional partners nationwide with the Foundation’s fitness mission we offer them the opportunity to assume a leadership role in instituting a children’s fitness program within their own communities.

The TherapyZone Foundation for Children’s Fitness also has a website where medical and fitness professionals plus the public can go to learn more about the grant program and to register qualifying preschool and daycare from their communities for grant support. The web site also features free downloads of early childhood and elementary school fitness activities designed for use by school teachers and parents. An opportunity to subscribe to the Foundation’s monthly newsletter is also available through a link on the site.
